Namosi Eco Retreat is 100% Fijian owned and operated.

Located in the tropical highlands of Namosi Province, this village retreat has authentic Bures (huts) and Velenikana (dining hall) handcrafted by local people using traditional Fijian building methods.

A 2 to 2.5 hour drive from Suva, this is your chance to get 'back to the basics' of life, enjoying nature and natural food at this 'unplugged' retreat (no electronic equipment except a solar powered emergency phone and lighting).

Namosi Eco Retreat is located near Navukabi Village, on private land. As it's not located within a village, guests are not required to abide by traditional village rules.

However, to access the retreat you walk through a small village, so to respect the villagers we ask that you wear a sulu (sarong, long skirt or dress will suffice), no hat, no backpack, no sunglasses, and follow other village protocols. This is just for the 5 minute walk through the small village and across the shallow river (reef shoes are handy for the river crossing) to access the retreat.

Experience the Fijian community life
In Namosi Province you enter the "old" Fiji where you will meet people living in remote communities without internet or mobile phone access, and many of whom are still reliant on subsistence farming to living a simple, happy and healthy lifestyle. All the villagers farm vegetables and root crops plus they catch prawns, eels and fish from the river for daily food to eat. Kava is a traditional ceremonial drink that is popular in Fiji, with Kava crops being the main source of income for most families from the neighbouring Navunikabi Village.

Navunikabi Village is famous for its rich, mountainous farmlands that provide local produce for guests at the retreat. The village has a strong family atmosphere that welcomes visitors into its community.
